Frequently asked questions

Below you can find some of the most common questions.

How does OPTA work?2024-09-03T16:24:07+00:00

OPTA is a stereo microscope, without eyepieces. Twin optical paths pass through the patented optics, exiting the single viewing lens as separate (stereo) optical paths, just as they would with a conventional stereo microscope. The operator sees a stereo image with high contrast and high resolution.

What objective lenses do I require?2024-09-03T16:47:12+00:00

The choice of microscope objective lenses will depend on the application and on user preference. In general, when viewing or inspecting objects, it is advantageous to see more of the sample (i.e. have a larger field of view) and have a large depth of focus. Depending on the size of the subject, these requirements may indicate that the lower magnification (4x and 6x) lenses will be the most useful for inspection work.

What’s the difference between OPTA and a bench magnifier2024-09-03T16:51:04+00:00

OPTA and bench magnifiers are both used for close-up viewing, but they offer different levels of magnification, comfort, and versatility. A bench magnifier is simple to use but may limit viewing flexibility. In contrast, OPTA being a stereo microscope offers a wider field of view and a 3D image. Its ergonomic design, using a viewing head instead of eyepieces, reduces strain on the eyes and neck. While a bench magnifier is suitable for basic tasks, a OPTA microscope is ideal for more demanding applications requiring precision and long term comfort.
