Vision Engineering was honoured to welcome HRH, The Princess Royal to our global Head Office in Send, Surrey, where she presented Managing Director, Mark Curtis with The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for our Lynx EVO ergonomic stereo microscope.
The award was granted in the Innovation category, which recognises remarkable achievement by UK businesses, for products that can demonstrate exceptional innovations and commercial success for a period of at least 2 years.
HRH toured the facility meeting the 120 Head Office based staff. Graham Mercer, Design Director, conducted a demonstration of the Lynx EVO stereo microscope, briefing HRH on how the patented design is aimed at increasing productivity through superior ergonomics.
HRH then took the opportunity to use Vision Engineering’s recently patented and disruptive technology stereo digital viewer, DRV-Z1, the first stereo viewer worldwide not to need glasses or a headset.
The Princess Royal then heard about Vision Engineering’s 63 year history and successful 90% exporting record, followed by a tour of our extensive machine shop and high tech product assembly area.
The official presentation of the Queen’s Award to Mark Curtis was made in front of all the HQ staff.
The tour was then completed with an invitation to The Princess Royal to plant two alder trees next to our wildlife pond, in support of The Queen’s Green Canopy Project, which honours Her Majesty’s 70 years of service to the Nation.
Mark Curtis commented,
“We are delighted to receive this, our third Queen’s Award from HRH, The Princess Royal for the technology and global commercial success Lynx EVO ergonomic stereo microscope. This award is recognition of the hard work and dedication of our UK and overseas based staff and of our continuing commitment to innovative instrument design and manufacture.”
