Dynascope eyepiece-less technology
Unique to Vision Engineering, Dynascope technology delivers an image in a way that means operators can move their heads whilst using the microscope, and eyepieces are not required. This remarkable technology has changed the science of microscopy forever, allowing the creation of the world’s first genuinely ergonomic microscopes.
Since we introduced it, it has benefited from a constant stream of revisions and upgrades, each pushing the technology a little bit further. Today, Dynascope can be found in our award-winning ergonomic microscopes including 2020 Queen’s Award winner Lynx EVO.
How Dynascope works
Dynascope uses a spinning, multi-lenticular disc which has more than 3.5 million lenticules – individual lenses – arranged in a hexagonal pattern on its surface. Each of these lenticules, with a diameter of just a few microns (for comparison, the average human hair has a diameter of around 75 microns), acts as a discrete image-forming surface.
By spinning the multi-lenticular disk at high speed, the millions of individual optical paths merge into an aberration-free, high-clarity, high contrast image. This has the effect of creating a virtual ‘eyepiece’ which has a diameter roughly 12 times greater than the intense, narrow beams of light that reach the eyes of anyone who uses a conventional binocular microscope.
Greater productivity
The large diameter of the twin light paths created by Dynascope eliminates the need for operators to precisely align their eyes to the eyepieces. And because there’s no need to hold a fixed and rigid position, which rapidly becomes uncomfortable, the common problems of neck, back and eye strain don’t arise. The greater comfort promotes greater concentration and reduces the need for frequent rest breaks, helping the operator to be more efficient and more productive.
A true ergonomic design
The award-winning ergonomics enabled by Dynascope don’t just remove discomfort, they also deliver superior imaging, give access to peripheral vision, improve hand-eye co-ordination and let in enough ambient light to avoid the continual contraction and dilation of the users’ pupils. Operators can also wear spectacles or safety goggles if they wish. It all adds up to a more efficient workplace with higher productivity, fewer errors and faster throughput.
The Dynascope difference
If you’ve never used a Vision Engineering eyepiece-less microscope before, you’ll be astonished at the difference. You don’t have to fiddle with eyepieces; just look into the viewer to view high resolution, high contrast images in stunning detail. If you’re serious about improving the productivity and quality of your work you need an eyepiece-less stereo microscope powered by Dynascope.
